Tough Times

KP: From which sectors are you noticing job applicants?
TK: The most quantity of job applicants is coming from financial and investment sector, from construction and development companies (investment bankers, financial and credit analysts, insurance brokers, project managers, engineers and others). I also have to mention that specialists of HR departments are in the risk-zone now.
KP: Is there any data available regarding layoffs that are underway?
TK: If the talk about the companies which are not in the process of closing down of their businesses, the average rate of layoffs is 20-30% from the total amount of employees.
KP: Experts are predicting a nationwide unemployment rate of at least 6-8%? Is this what you are seeing as well?
TK: I think 6-8% is very optimistic prediction.
KP: Is Brain-Source International doing any “re-qualification” projects/job orders for companies to re-train employees? The companies are not ready to invest money in such kind of projects for the moment. The main head-ache of many companies is layoffs.
TK: Our real assistance for our clients now is effective outplacement service. All international companies, which have a previous experience of layoffs in financial turmoil periods, know the important meaning of this activity. Outplacement is a chance for company to make personnel cutting in the most humanistic and ethical way. Moreover, outplacement often helps companies to save their money and, of course, their time. |
